The tide decides the boardwalk visit

The coastal authority derives boardwalk access from tide forecasts and may alter it for wind, waves or maintenance. A sunset forecast is not a boardwalk opening time. Read the dated access notice before departure and obey the entrance staff; a closed boardwalk means staying in permitted shore areas, not stepping onto protected mudflats.

City rail station, then a coastal bus

Operator route 309 links Taichung Railway Station with Gaomei Wetlands; the city bus lookup names the Gaomei Wetlands (Sanshun Road) stop. This is not an HSR-station pickup. If arriving by HSR, account for a separate city transfer or arrange a vehicle with a confirmed return, rather than assuming a direct 309 connection.

Plan the return before choosing sunset

Check the return-direction stop and departures for your visit date before boarding outward. Keep waiting and a missed-bus buffer before any booked train; no fixed last bus is promised here. In strong wind or rain, choose the city-art day instead. The existing coastal half-day itinerary is the appropriate scale, not an extra stop after a full lake day.
