Base yourself in Taichung for one night, keeping the first day for city art, design and Feng Chia Night Market and the second for a full-day Sun Moon Lake excursion.
Choose a Taichung city hotel for the first evening, not a lake hotel. If staying near city Taichung Railway Station, plan the separate move to HSR Taichung for the lake bus; the two stations are not interchangeable. Leave luggage at an agreed city base where available, instead of assuming every lake stop has storage.
From HSR Taichung use the reviewed 6670 connection to Shuishe. Read the existing route guide for the exact boarding point, direction and applicable fare/ticket; EasyCard is payment preparation, not an HSR ticket or a lake-boat ticket. At Shuishe choose either a boat outing or Xiangshan cycling, then return to the agreed bus stop with waiting and missed-service margin.
For a late first-day arrival, cut the city-art stops rather than the second-day transfer margin. If you want a lake sunrise, lake overnight or an evening later than the suitable return bus, change the overnight base and onward transport explicitly; do not call it the same city-base plan. Keep Cingjing and Alishan out of this already full lake day.
