From THSR Taichung Station, use Exit 5, go to the first-floor bus terminal and board the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Sun Moon Lake Route at Platform 3. Allow about 90 minutes and check the live timetable before travel.
From Taipei to Sun Moon Lake
Use Taichung as the transfer point—not the final destination. Take high-speed rail to THSR Taichung, then continue directly to the lake by tourist shuttle.
Recommended route
Reserve a southbound HSR train from Taipei to Taichung. Leave transfer time rather than choosing a tight connection.
At Exit 5, go down to the first-floor bus terminal and use Platform 3 for the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Sun Moon Lake Route. The bus journey is about 90 minutes.
Shuishe Visitor Center is the practical arrival point for boats, bicycle rental and local buses. Check the return service before heading around the lake.
